Krispy Kreme or Dunkin' Donuts?:"A patient's family approches you. They say they want to do something nice for the staff. They want to bring in food. Do you tell them bagels or donuts? If it's donuts, is it Krispy Kreme or Dunkin' Donuts?" http://nursingdiscussions.com/krispy
Pet Therapy:"I have been reading a bit about pet therapy programs and they sound very cool but haven't actually seen one anywhere. Guess the animal lover in me is coming out. These seem like a great way to lighten people up and well, make them feel good. I was wondering if anyone has worked with a pet therapy program and if so, what kind of benefits have you seen from it? Has their been any major complications, drawbacks? I am thinking of trying to get one started for a project at my clinical sight." http://www.ultimatenurse.com/forum/f5/pet-therapy-good-10570/
Trauma Nurses Talk Tough:"Trauma Nurses Talk Tough is a program that originated in Oregon State when three trauma nurses decided to do something to decrease the number of kids that were brought into the state's trauma centers. In order to do this they had to educate the kids about making safe choices in order to prevent senseless injuries.

Assignment From Hell. Who ever thought it would happen to us?:"I am a seasoned traveler and I thought I knew all the questions to ask a new company. I have never had a problem with assignments/contracts/or accommodations.. - that were not resolved by the company I was with.- I have had several excellent assignments with PRN. When I changed companies I never thought I would have to read all the fine lines of the contract..but my most recent contract seems to be all for the company." http://www.nursingdiscussions.com/assignment
What sets your recruiter or company apart?:"I spent a great deal of time picking out a company to work with. So far my choice seems to be a good one. My recruiter has gone out of his way to make sure my needs are met. I was wondering what criteria different people use in selecting a company. For me it is a recruiter I can work with." http://nursingdiscussions.com/apart/
Physicians in the Triage Room:"I've been a nurse for 16 years ; 11 ICU and the past 5 in ER. We are trying institute having a Physician in the Triage Room with the Triage Nurse during peak hours 11a-11pm. We are trying to work out some of the glitches before we go LIVE in April. We use IBEX as our computer Triage/Nursing Documentation which means that the Triage Nurse has to have the triage in before the doc can start his writeup on the patient. We anticipate that this will be a great idea for those that don't need to spend more than a few minutes with a doc ie: wound care check, nurse maid elbow, simple stuff." http://www.nursingdiscussions.com/ed
Which nursing career path to choose:"I am a bsn senior nursing student who is trying to decide which nursing path to choose. I have completed all but pedi and preceptorship clinicals.I have enjoyed all clinicals..but med-surg not as much.
Basically.. I would like to ask for your help. Who really enjoys the nursing career they have? The hours, pay, ability to advance their career, etc. I know each situation is different, I just need somewhere to start. We have a career fair in February and most students get their jobs at that time and before graduation." http://www.nursingdiscussions.com/path
